I can

And now, the reason why these topics have a picture of a smiling kitten next to them.  No matter how down I am, I've never been able to spend a few minutes on http://icanhascheezburger.com/ without feeling better and laughing.  I don't even like cats that much, but I'll be darn if those pictures aren't some of the funniest and cutest things I've ever seen.  It's a tool of mine, whenever I'm said, go take a look at I can haz cheezburger.

My name is Mudd

So i get this random newsletter in my email the other day from this summer camp program in Australia.  My initial thought was that it was just spam, but it looks way to legit.  So I go ahead and go through the unsubscribe steps, and just shrug it off.  A day or two later, I get an email from "Joshua Hall" saying that he's working to process my unsubscription but couldn't find my email address in their DB.  Turns out I got my own numerous email accounts mixed up when I attempted to unsubscribe, but that's pretty funny I just natually ran into another Josh Hall.

This comes a day after Kallie tells me that one of the big doctor's at her office has a son named Josh and his last name is also Hall.  So Kallie is going to have to explain repeatedly that she is not marrying Dr. Hall's son, I'm sure.

My curse.

Keren's getting married.

I was on facebook today and saw that Keren updated her website information.  She had made a wonderful website for her wedding.  As I looked through the pictures, listened to the music, and read her words, I cried.  I hope Robbie knows how lucky he is.

Watch me

I've always complained about how I'm not made for this world and how they stop making things that I really appreciate like the certs mints, ice cream, etc.  Last week I went shopping for a wallet because my current one is falling apart.  My wallet is just about perfect, and I would say that here are the things that make it great:

  1. bifold
  2. a bill compartment divider (I like to have $20 and $10s on one side and $5 and $1s on the other)
  3. Driver's license is clearly visible upon opening
  4. picture holder can be removed/discarded
  5. over all efficient use of space resulting in a thin wallet

This is what I have now.  Something that already exists.  You'd think I'd be able to find something at least equal, right?  Wrong.  I spent a good hour total looking at wallets and couldn't find one that I liked.  I even bought one, returned it, and bought another.  Anyone who knows me knows that I believe returning items to be a cardinal sin in consumerism.  I ended up settling for one that has an additional flap for the drivers license, which takes up more space, but can still operate as a bifold.  Just because I feel like mentioning it, I used to have a wallet that had a little tab that you could feed a key into and flipping it out exposed the teeth so you could use it.  I LOVE that.  I love functionality.  Makes my wallet like a swiss army knife.

ANYWAY, the real bit of sunshine was when I was at Walmart, looking at batteries for Kallie's remote car unlocker thing-a-ma-bob.  We're in the watch section, and I just happen to glance over at a watch that meets my first few criterion on watches:

  1. Rectangular face
  2. No gold
  3. Classy and Artsy design
  4. digital display as well
  5. date, with days and months
  6. back lighting button

The watch I have now, and have had for about 5 years now does not have a digital display, back lighting, or months/days.  I searched high and low for a watch that met my standards, but found none, yet here one is for $18 at Walmart.  It's a little large, and I'll need to get the band adjusted before I can wear it, but we might have a winner here.  That makes me happy.

heh, just browsing through the old posts on my blog and found this:  http://www.sixf00t4.com/article480.html  Pretty funny considering the timing and my recent thoughts on turning 26.  I don't remember writing that post at all, and that is why I love documenting my life.

Strangers when we meet

As I was walking to work this morning, a late 20 year old guy was washing his cadillac, and I intently made eye contact with him, waved, and said hi to him.  Not entirely characteristic of me, but he was close enough to be my neighbor, so I wanted to be neighborly.  As I was past the Family Dollar in the Hill District a few blocks away, a gentleman said as he passed me, "How are you doing today, Sir?".  He said it quickly and in too close proximity for me to look at him and reply though.  I just looked up and smiled at him.  Then a block down a girl asked me for the time, which i promptly gave her.  Then a block down an elderly lady with a walker said good morning to me and offered me a track which I declined.  Then another block, this huge dump truck slowed down, stopped, turned off his engine, and the driver says, "Excuse me sir, do you know where Joshua Gibson ball field is?"  I then gave him directions to the field with joy.  Never have I had this much social interaction on my walk to work, and I was barely even half way there!  Then I'm at work riding the elevator up with a guy who is leaning his head back against the wall and says, "Is it Friday yet?"  I reply, "You're in luck my friend, it is indeed Friday!"  He asked if I was sure and then said that it's just been one of those weeks.  I said, "It's only been a 4 day week!  Must have been pretty bad!" then wished him well as I got off on my floor and he continued his ascent to where ever he has to sit out the rest of the day.  Then the network went down, so people on the floor were wandering around aimless without having the internet to entertain them, and a guy that took my old job but has been around for a few weeks introduced himself to me.

What a talkative public I've encountered today!

I was talking to deirdre today on AIM, even though she's just in my basement, and 2 sentences I wrote were the same length.  I love when that happens.

[12:05] S i x f 0 0 t 4: no loud noises in the morning
[12:05] S i x f 0 0 t 4: and yes, 12:05 is still morning

reminds me of an xkcd comic strip: http://www.xkcd.com/276/

Isn't it funny how things work out?

New blog topic!  This category will be for the short posts where something particular made me smile.

Kallie and I flew from California to Philly Friday, and Saturday all my family was getting together, but I wasn't planning on flying back until Sunday night.  I called my family while Kallie and I were in the car, and Deirdre thought that I was on my way there to surprise them.  After realizing how bad I wanted to be there, Kallie and I decided to make an impromptu road trip and got home around midnight.  Kallie and I get to spend an extra day with eachother since she'll leave Tuesday morning, but the essence of this post was the text message i got from US Airways saying that I would have been stranded at the Philly airport until midnight Sunday since the flight was delayed more than an hour.  I love how perfect everything worked out.
